Born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu on July 2, 1991, Burna Boy rose from Nigeria’s vibrant grassroots music scene, to become one of the continent’s most recognizable cultural exports. He first gained national attention with his 2012 breakout single – Like to Party, before releasing his debut album – L.I.F.E in 2013. His fusion of Afrobeats, reggae, dancehall and pop, popularly branded as “Afrofusion”, has since resonated with audiences across continents, helping introduce millions of listeners to contemporary African sounds.
