According to military accounts, heavily armed attackers stormed the Rector’s residence on Tsohon-Tasha Street in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area on July 28, 2026, killing a private security guard and injuring another resident before attempting to abduct the Rector, his wife and their two children. Responding to emergency distress calls, troops from Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma engaged the assailants in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to flee and abandon the family unharmed.

In a related operation, soldiers responding to another raid in Tungan Dorawa community, Barkeji Village, rescued 22 civilians, including prominent businessman Alhaji Azaria, after pursuing the attackers through difficult terrain. Authorities say investigations are ongoing.
