President-elect John Mahama has shared his unwavering passion for farming, describing it as the core of his life and the foundation of his retirement aspirations.
During a recent visit to his farms in Yapei and Busunu, located in the Savannah region, Mr. Mahama provided an intimate look into his agricultural ventures and future goals.
“Farming is my life. I love it, and I’m certain that if I hadn’t pursued a career in politics, I would have been a full-time farmer,” he remarked.
He continued, “Once I retire, after this chapter of my life, I intend to devote myself fully to farming. If you want to find me, you’ll have to come to the farm.”
The former president has invested significantly in both crop and livestock farming, transforming his agricultural initiative into a thriving enterprise.
“We began with 300 goats and other small ruminants, and today, the numbers have increased to nearly 500, with an additional 200 animals added recently,” Mahama revealed. He also outlined plans to expand into sheep and cattle farming, underscoring his commitment to growth.
Balancing political responsibilities with his passion for farming has been a challenge, but Mahama finds immense satisfaction in working the land.
