Northern Italy Experienced Torrential Rains, Triggering Floods and Mudslides

Torrential rain battered northern Italy on Monday unleashing floods and mudslides that struck the towns of Como and Cabiate. Firefighters evacuated families from their homes, pulled stranded motorists from vehicles and worked to clear rail lines buried in debris.

The flood disaster was more than a logistical upheaval, it was a rupture of daily life.
